Sister Carol
was born Nov. 28, 1960 in Newport News, Virginia. She graduated from Hampton High School, Hampton, VA in 1978 and attended Virginia State University, graduating in 1982 with a BA in English/minoring in Mass Communication. She also holds a MA in Christian Education from Carolina University of Theology and is a thesis away from completing her Doctorate degree in Christian Education.

In January of 1985, Sister Carol accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She then began fellowshipping and attending Bible study at a church less than a mile from her home in Occoquan, VA but never had the prompting of the Holy Spirit to “join”. After praying and diligently asking the Lord to send her to the church He desired, the Holy Spirit directed her to become a part of Reconciliation Community Church of Manassas, VA, where Pastor John R. Peyton is Senior Pastor.

During her first year as a member of Reconciliation Community Church, Sister Carol became a part of the Sunday School Ministry where she began teaching the children. A year later the Lord spoke to her heart and instructed her to leave her job with the Journal Newspapers, Springfield, VA as a graphics artist – where she was positioning herself to become a reporter for the Journal – and to go into full-time ministry at Reconciliation Community Church. After being interviewed by Pastor John and Sister Marie Peyton, Sister Carol left her job with the Journal and became a part of the RCC staff family.

As part of the full-time staff of Reconciliation Community Church, for the last 21 years, Sister Carol served as the Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor and then as the Church Administrator. She has also served in numerous ministry capacities which included Sunday school teacher, Children’s Church worker, Vacation Bible School worker, the Evangelism Ministry and the Outreach Ministry. She has assisted in the Counseling Ministry as well and is a part of the Singles Ministry (God’s Gift) of RCC. She is a part of the Prison Ministry where she is a part of a team that goes into the Manassas Jail and Adult Detention Center weekly to instruct women. She also teaches a class to the male residents of the jail when asked by leadership entitled: “What Women Wish Men Knew.” She is currently a part of the Visual Media Ministry and has been an instructor at Carolina University of Theology. In August 2007, Carol accepted a new challenge and adventure in ministry from the Lord and accepted the position as Academic Dean of Carolina University of Theology.

Carol was licensed as a Teacher/Minister of the Gospel at Reconciliation Community Church in 1990 and ordained in 2000. Sister Carol’s love for the ministry she has been called to at RCC is only second to her love for ministry on foreign soil. In 1987, the Lord gave Sister Carol a vision of standing on foreign soil with children grabbing her around her waist and the Lord brought that vision to pass when He opened the door for her to go on her first short-term mission trip in 1988 to Haiti.

Since that faithful day the Lord has allowed Sister Carol to return to Haiti for a total of 6 short-term mission trips. In 2003, the Lord opened the door for Sister Carol to be a part of a mission trip to Kampala, Uganda. This trip impacted Carol’s spiritual life in a way she had never experienced before and she has been blessed to return to Africa to minister in Uganda and Ghana, for the last four years. Her love for the nation of Africa has moved her in ways she cannot describe. In 2006, Carol was blessed to travel to in the name of the Lord to Haiti, Honduras (Central America), Uganda and Ghana. She has also been blessed to be a part of study pilgrim to the Holy Land, Jerusalem in 1993 and returned for her second study pilgrimage in May 2008. She also returned to Uganda in September 2008.

“Sister” Carol, as she is affectionally known by many, is single and her heart-felt desire is to be pleasing to the Lord who she truly loves with all her heart, mind and soul. She has a heart for those who are single in the Body of Christ and that the Lord, will show them that it is possible through and in Christ, to be “Single, Saved and Satisfied.” Sister Carol simply wants to be remembered as one who loved the Lord.
